About Us
Steve and Leigh Sherwood met
in the summer of 1992 while rodeoing in Idaho. They were married in December
of 1993. They have three terrific kids; Cheyenne, who is 14, Cole, 13, and
Shawnee, 10.
Steve, the oldest
of five boys, grew up riding and roping on a ranch in Snowflake,
AZ. His dad, Bill, and mom, Marci, taught their sons to teamrope
and hauled them all over the west to compete at jackpots and Jr.
rodeos. Steve later went to college on a rodeo scholarship and
graduated from Arizona State University.

Leigh was the
third of four kids belonging to Ray and Marva Yamauchi of Grace,
Id. Ray was a tie down roper who also competed professionally
throughout the western United States. He taught his two sons and
two daughters to follow in his footsteps as well.
Since their
marriage Steve and Leigh have rodeod, trained horses, and taught
many beginner and intermediate level ropers the skills of
teamroping. Their three kids have benefited from these
teachings. Cheyenne is a many time Jr. rodeo champion including
the all around champion of her age group in 2007. Cole is a very
accomplished heeler who recently won the NTRL #8 shootout in
Jacksonville Fl. and graced the cover of the "Roping Pen"
magazine. He is one of a very few 13 yr. old #6 or above ropers
in the USTRC. Shawnee, while only 10 yrs. old is starting to
exhibit the skill of her older siblings and has been placing at
local jackpots on her good mare "Sweet Leigh".
Steve, Leigh, and
family summer in Idaho and live in Gilbert, AZ the rest of the
year. Steve was the heading champion of the Intermountain
ProRodeo Association last year, his first as a full time header.
He had previously won four championships as a heeler as well as
being champion of the Turquoise and Wilderness Circuits in the
PRCA. Leigh is one of the most consistent female jackpot money
winners in Arizona and was the 18/40/girl champion in the
Intermountain ProRodeo Association for 2008.
